Dubai may have its sensationally shaped Palm and World islands, but Qatar has embarked on developing the Pearl of The Gulf: a USD 2.5 billion manmade island off the coast of Doha, made to look like a string of pearls and diamonds. Construction by Qatar's United Development Company (UDC) began on 5 April 2004 and the first phase of residential construction is scheduled to be ready by September 2006.

More mind-boggling examples of NATIONS*LITE* from Dubai. "Divided into six themed worlds, Dubailand will feature state of the art
sporting facilities, theme parks, eco-tourism resorts, museums, galleries, spas, and stunning shopping and recreation venues."

The Residences is a condominium hotel enclave built on the MGM GRAND grounds in Las Vegas. Suites come with the 'pleasures' of being a regular resident and a pampered hotel guest: from exclusive access to spa facilities to restaurants to the enormous casino to the Studio 54 night club.

The Tower Residences are situated above the new Four Seasons Hotel in Miami.

In their words: "Oversized private steel-and-glass balconies, with breathtaking views of city, sky and sea, reflect the optimistic nature of your new lifestyle."
