Who else is coming can influence which trip someone books. Adults-only packages, expert-led itineraries and matchmaking campaigns give travelers different ways to choose their company. These innovations show how operators can consider the social experience alongside transport, accommodation and activities.

JetBlue and Virgin Voyages have partnered on a package combining a charter flight from New York to Fort Lauderdale with a four-night adults-only cruise to the Bahamas. The bundle connects the flight and cruise booking around an established preference for travel without children. It gives the two brands a specific audience to serve together.

Mandarin Oriental’s Exclusive Journeys, delivered through The Luminaire, offers six-day itineraries with astronomy and conservation experts. Specialist guidance gives travelers a reason to book around an interest they want to explore in greater depth. The activities also give guests something to discuss and experience together, although a shared interest alone doesn’t guarantee a connection.

Visit Finland invites international singles to submit video applications before selecting and matching participants for group dinners in Helsinki and Tampere. Here, choosing the participants is an explicit part of the experience. The campaign uses the prospect of meeting someone to introduce travelers to Finnish cities and dining culture.
