Massive Attack commissions roadmap to reduce live music's carbon emissions

The stark reality, as summarized by Massive Attack: "We can’t negotiate with a code red for humanity. We have to stop heating our planet." 

In 2019, the British band commissioned the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research to figure out how to reduce carbon emissions associated with live music touring. The British band provided data from its own tours, which were combed through by researchers who then developed a roadmap for the music industry. Report and roadmap have now been released and are freely available for all to use.

Recommendations include phasing out diesel generators at festivals, eliminating use of private jets, promoting travel by public transport or electric vehicles, and working with local authorities and transport providers to increase public transport options for audiences after shows finish.
